PC games... Or is that off limits here? πŸ˜Άβ€πŸŒ«οΈ

Is Unity of Command II any good? Anyone?

I briefly played the first installment and did not like it. It is quite abstract and I want to have a bazillion details when I play a computer wargame - I enjoy the ways a computer can make the little details visible and of influence. But to be far, I didn't look 'under the hood' to see if it is a good game/simulation.

I don't think computer wargames are off limits here - I think the more classic miniatures wargames are not part of the scope of USL but even that could be a topic of conversation. I mean, I imagine some people do not think U-Boat to be a wargame while I think it simulated a very specific type of warfare in WW2, so it is. I also think that it's not that important but I suppose the limits have a point or we might digress into WH40K which, obviously, deals with war also but isn't exactly historical.

I think that these classifications of what is and what isn't a 'proper' wargame is helpful when talking about broad categories, but starts to get blurry when talking about individual games.

Thanks for your thoughts, Rob. I did buy the game and the Ardennes DLC eventually. It only set me back a tenner. 🀷

I'll let you know what I think about the game when I get some hours in.
