So, earlier I made a very first concept (below) for a landing page for the website. Now, there are different ways to proceed and Fierman wanted us to test the various options of the site, so let's test the poll option.

Feel free to add your own ideas

If we would be using historical artwork, I really would like to avoid using AI generated images. There's a lot of historical paintings and drawings that are in the public domain.

Ifit is any consolation, none of these are AI generated. The tank and battleship are photographs, the other four are existing art, the civl war one even contemporary art.

Hi Rob,

That is pretty impressive, I like it. It does tend to focus on 'small unit actions' though :) which is not the only thing we do. I would like to promote the grand strategy scale as well (and everything in between, obviously, but we only have 6 tiles to fill).

How do you ensure a similar style? Did you use photoshop to modiy original work? Is it possible to include historical imagery that suggests the grand strategic scale? Maybe Napoleon pointing at a map :) ?

Cheers. It's not as hard as it seems.

I took six photo's and/or paintings and asked AI to evenly put them together around the hexagon of the logo. Then I asked it to kinda sorta 'sepia' them all for a more uniform feel. This was the most troublesome for the battleship as this is a full colour - and very bright - photo. Like I said earlier, it is (now I got the hang of it) easy to use other pictures and get rid of the stupid Gemini star. Now it's a painting of Borodino, San Romano so these were easily adapted, and the Mark IV tank took well to the colour I think. If folks have great artwork or pictures they think wuld workd, link them here and I can switch stuff around to have a few variations.

I was thinking to do a three historical alternated with three game related picture version next to see what works, and was going to take a CDG, a block game and a hex-n-counter. Just use some from my own collection really, but anything found on the internet could work. Then maybe add the name ' Het Utrechts Stadsleger' and 'Plays historical conflict simulations' somewhere if that doesn't clutter the thing up too much.

Sounds great. I also like the idea of showing the three major game systems.

How should we integrate this with the landing page? As a background, or not? I'm not sure if 'Utrechts Stadsleger etc' is necessary? It may clutter the graph and anyway we have a title on the landing page already.
